Wednesday, January 14th

Advanced American Studies Today we resumed discussion of WWII. To review, we began by examining the following questions:

Prelude to War: Discussion Questions (444-453)
  1. Describe the course of the war after Britain and France declare war in 1939.
  2. How were the British able to hold the line in the battle of Britain in 1940?
  3. Describe relations between the Germans and the Russian in the late 30's. How do they change?
  4. In what ways did America prepare for war in the late 30's?
  5. What problems were the Japanese creating in the 1930's?
  6. Why did the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor?

Next, we examined Pearl Harbor. Review the National Geographic Website for an overview of what transpired Dec. 7th, 1941.

Assignment: Complete Pearl Harbor Readings (Who was responsible?) by Friday.
